Painting of a Child
Photoshop CS5, 2011
Did this for class.. We didn’t really have to do a fully rendered piece but I felt like doing a digital painting so this happened. I want to know more about Digital Painting and Oil Painting. Just wish I had more time in my hands @_@.
Oh and even though I absolutely hate it, I will start signing all my illustrations from now on…

The Clothes Horse

Hi guys! This is an illustration based on a photo of The Clothes Horse a “personal style and inspiration” blogger. Please click the photo to go to the blog post with the reference photo!

I really like her photos so I asked her permission if I could draw from them and she said yes!

I will be going into General Illustration in the Fall so I won’t be doing fashion illustrations anymore unless its for a job so I thought I would ask some of my favorite bloggers if I could illustrate them. I will be drawing three others as well.

Hope you guys still enjoy the fashion illustrations! Also please check out The Clothes Horse!! Her blog is very inspiring! Well at least for me but I’m sure if you enjoy fashion you’ll enjoy her blog too!!

Fourth piece from my Accordion portfolio book in the FIT AAS Show.

Third piece. Accordion portfolio. FIT Fashion Illustration AAS Show.
Painted in gouache and edited in Photoshop. You could call this a tribute piece since every character in this piece is based on a real person. I used a photo I took in Incheon airport as my reference for the background.
This piece is actually a tribute to the fashion illustration class of 2011 in FIT and also to Professor Karen Santry who did so much for us. I painted her as a teenage girl on the far right side of the page.
The girl sitting next to her is Michelle Quintero also a brilliant artist and one of my classmates. She does wonders with colored pencils and is famous in our class for drawing faces on her projects that look just like her! She draws a lot of laughing faces!
The guy behind her is Elvis Towers also a classmate and president of www.fashionartnyc.com This guy is behind our class site and I’m pretty impressed how he’s always giving us updates on the site and asking us if there’s anything we need to improve.
The girl sitting on the back is Minnie Wang who looks cute and illustrates the cutest girls! She is the vice president of fashionartnyc.com and one of my closest friends in FIT! Both her traditional pieces and digital works are beautiful and colorful! Also soulful! AND she was featured in Oscar De La Renta’s PR girl’s tumblr!!
Okay now lets move to front characters Jimmy Skarbek and Meagan Morrisson! Both are awesome fashion illustrators! CHECK THEM OUT!!!
Last but not least, who is that girl in the back holding a camera? She’s my sister Hannah! She’s the one who updates ESIUOL ARAM. She actually started that blog without my knowledge. She likes my class works the most. She takes pictures of them and posts them when I’m too lazy to do it myself xD Thanks sis!!
On more thing before I go. The word UBOS means “down” or “low” in visaya. It is also part of the name of the place where I used to live- Poblacion Ubos, Loay. Sentimental much? ~_~
That’s all about I can say for this piece. Two more to go!!

Second piece in my accordion portfolio for FIT Fashion Illustration AAS Show up till May 24, 2011. *Edited: The exhibition is in the E Building (Special Exhibitions, basement).
The setting is Times Square in New York City. I particularly picked this place because in the two years I’ve been in FIT, I would always find myself walking around Times Square several times in a month.
The figures were all drawn separately in class and then combined and colored in Photoshop.
Three more pieces to go!
On another note, there are a few people who told me that they weren’t sure if I was okay with mailing them postcards internationally. I’m okay with mailing postcards outside USA. I still have copies so if you want one please email me at mara.louise@ymail.com

One of the color roughs for the Duchess of Devonshire, Fashion Icon Project. Inspired by the Gainsborough Hat. And since the Duchess loved to gamble (ie. playing cards) I made the hat heart-shaped.
